International Symposium on Structural and Materials Engineering - CISM 2026

Objective

The symposium aims to promote scientific and technical exchanges around the structures and mechanics of materials, highlighting advances in research, innovation and professional practices, in the service of sustainable and resilient development of territories.

Specific objectives:

  • Promote the sharing of recent research results in materials mechanics and structural engineering;

  • Highlighting innovations related to sustainable, local and alternative materials;

  • Encourage dialogue between researchers, engineers, industrialists and decision-makers;

  • Strengthening synergies between basic research, applied research and professional practices;

  • Contribute to improving the design, durability and resilience of structures and infrastructure;

  • Promote training, mentoring of young researchers and the transfer of skills and technologies.

Themes and workshops

The presentations will focus primarily on the following themes:

- Mechanics of materials: behavior, fracture, fatigue and durability

- Innovative, sustainable materials and local resources

- Analysis, modeling and dimensioning of structures

- Numerical modeling and simulation of materials and structures

- Durability, resilience and rehabilitation of structures

- Standards, innovation and transfer to professional practice

These themes will be structured into three scientific workshops for the symposium. In addition, training workshops will also be organized.

  • Workshop 1: Mechanics and characterization of materials,

  • Workshop 2: Modeling and dimensioning of structures,

  • Workshop 3: Sustainability, diagnosis and rehabilitation of structures,

  • Workshop 4: Planning, scientific writing, publication.

Activities and presentation methods

The activities during the CISM 2026 Symposium are of four (04) types:

- Plenary sessions

- Communication workshops

- Strategic workshop for structuring research

- Training: definition, planning, scientific writing and publication

Three presentation methods are selected:

- In-person oral presentation

- Oral presentation via videoconference

- Poster presentation
